Sydney Sports Management Group (SSMG) is an established privately-owned Australian Specialist Facilities Management Company with over 30 years of experience owning and successfully managing a variety of Leisure and Sporting Centres associated initially with Tennis World running NSW’s largest Tennis Management Group, later expanding into Golf, Health and Fitness, Aquatics and Café operations.
In 2017, Scott Riley (Founder) and Richard Price (CEO) shared not just a mutual love of tennis, but also a passion for Sport & Recreation. They agreed the Sport & Leisure landscape in Sydney presented an opportunity for a new agile, personalised, innovative business model that had partnership at the core.
At the cornerstone was three key pillars:
- Develop a House of Sport & Recreation Brands that now include best of breed programming in each recreation category
- The model was to deliver significant reduction in corporate overhead while also delivering value to both the community and stakeholders. This is achieved by outsourcing professional services including, Accounting, Legal, IT.
- SSMG’s corporate culture is strongly influenced by a belief in the personal and community benefits of healthy active leisure pursuits. While as a family business there is a strong commercial focus, it also recognises the need to balance this with both social and environmental considerations.
SSMG is a proven partner committed to working in true partnership, building long-term relationships with Government.
We currently partners with a number of stakeholders including Randwick Council, City of Sydney, Lane Cove Council, Willoughby Council, Ryde Council, North Sydney Council, South Sydney Rabbitohs. Special Olympics and over 100 schools.

This newly formed partnership model now incorporates the best Sport & Recreation Services under one roof. Richard Price, CEO of SSMG, advocates this model will deliver sustainable financial performance and community outcomes to all stakeholders.

Our strategic alliances include Aquabliss Swim Schools, High Low Fitness, Recreation Alley Gymnastics, Padel, Tennis World, Ultimate Soccer and the NSBC Group. (NSW’s Largest Australian-Owned Bus & Coach Charter Company).
NSBC is an integral part of SSMG competitive advantage. We understand transportation barriers can influence the cost of programs in the community. Our carefully designed bus transport shuttles can run to any school or corporate schedule.
Momentum
SSMG has a proven track record in service delivery through their partnership approach evidence by winning the 2018 Tennis NSW Club of the Year.
In recent months, SSMG has retained the City of Sydney’s Rushcutters Bay Tennis Centre contract. This 9 year partnership helped secure the management rights of the Randwick City Council’s brand new $6 million dollar facility; Heffron Park Tennis Centre located in the Maroubra Sports Precinct.
SSMG has continued to innovate by launching the sport of Padel to the country.This brand new sport is a fusion of tennis and squash played in a short matches.
SSMG and Padel Sydney invested $500,000 in Australia’s largest Padel sporting venue at Tennis World North Ryde.
Focussing on continuous improvement and optimisations is clearly evident in SSMG practices. They have successfully introduced a new CRM and point of sale system, MindBody, that allows greater centralised visibility to all managed facilities.
