The Cintra Park Tennis and Sports Centre is a City of Canada Bay facility located in Concord, and currently includes 14 synthetic tennis courts. Council has appointed Sydney Sports Management Group (SSMG) to operate the centre as part of a lease arrangement.
The doors are now open under the current guidelines to play tennis in a COVID safe way both now and into the future at the Cintra Park Sports and Tennis Centre.
Richard Price, SSMG’s Chief Executive who commenced his Australian employment 15 years ago managing the Five Dock Leisure Centre, added “I am personally very pleased to be back working in such a wonderful community and SSMG is delighted to be awarded the contract and looks forward to partnering with the City of Canada Bay, Tennis NSW and the local Schools.
We will work collaboratively with the City of Canada Bay in the delivery of Council’s Recreation and Open Space Strategy. This will be achieved by improving this iconic facility to ensure it meets the community’s expectations for many years to come.
We will ensure the continuation of services and the centre will provide a range of options including casual bookings as well as programmed activities such as HotShots (Tennis Australia), Cardio Tennis (Tennis Australia), organised social play, evening competition, private lessons, group lessons, table tennis and membership options.
SSMG’s vision is to create community hubs and maximise usage of this important community asset. We will continue to deepen our partnerships with both Special Olympics and NOVA Disability Employment at the Cintra Park facility.
We advocate Recreation delivery is becoming more diverse and complex. SSMG believes to deliver maximum optimisation, best practice programming and ensure the delivery of a quality customer experience a collaborative delivery model is the future of the industry. We are delighted to partner with Voyager Tennis Academy an award-winning world class tennis program provider. The two organisations have similar culture and values, so we see this as natural capability alignment.
“It is fantastic that residents can continue to enjoy tennis in a COVID safe way during this time, and we look forward to seeing how Sydney Sports Management Group transforms the centre for our active, growing population,” Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.
Sydney-based SSMG is a privately-owned facilities management company with over 30 years of experience owning and successfully managing a variety of recreation and sport venues. Over the years SSMG has strategically moved to expand its field of operations through offering its skills and expertise in the form of management systems and best practice program delivery across schools and Local Government.
Scott Riley Founder of SSMG and former touring professional stated “Our Group will be investing a significant amount of capital in Cintra Park Tennis Centre to repurpose this valuable community asset, including a complete resurface of all existing courts.”
